I live on Chokoloskee Island. I bought a net mosquito suit so I could get my groceries inside, take out the trash or walk the dog a few steps away from the house, but I discovered that
mosquitoes can bite thru the suit. I tried wearing thick sweat pants, a hoodie, a netted hat, gloves and rain boots, because any square inch of exposed skin will be infested in seconds, but I got overheated in that outfit and very sick, I bought a construction worker's ice pack vest to wear under my hoodie so I can spend more than 30 minutes outside without passing out. I bought a spider vacuum from TEMU to keep in the car because the mosquitoes encamped inside and swarm me while I drive. I have 2 blower fans, one outside, the other inside, aimed at my front door so I can enter without bringing an entire swarm in with me.
Im 73, on blood thinner and I get purple splotches on my arms where the mosquitoes bite. I dont want to spray myself with DEET everytime I step out the door. I still have non perishable groceries in my car, but I dont want to go get them because Im already covered in bug bites from one trip to the car and the house. Do ya'll wanna come down a spend a few days with us on Chokoloskee? Dont forget to pack your sweat suit, net hat, gloves, boots, and DEET, you'll have great time.
