Wisdom TC Flowable is a bifenthrin-based insecticide and termiticide for controlling a variety of pests on residential, commercial, and industrial buildings, as well as lawns and athletic fields. It works by disrupting the insect's nervous system, and is used to treat termites, mosquitos, fleas, ticks, and other crawling and flying insects. The product must be mixed with water according to label instructions and applied to create an insecticidal barrier, or for general treatment.
Key Features
Active Ingredient: Bifenthrin.
Pest Control: Broad spectrum, targeting termites, mosquitos, fleas, ticks, ants, and more.
Application Areas: Residential, institutional, commercial, and industrial buildings, as well as lawns and athletic fields.
How it Works
Bifenthrin is a synthetic pyrethroid that acts as a contact poison.
It interferes with the insect's central and peripheral nervous system by causing sodium channel gating, leading to hyperactivity, paralysis, and death.
Mixing and Application
Wisdom TC Flowable is mixed with water to create a specific dilution rate for the target pest, with a 0.06% emulsion commonly used for subterranean termites.
Application methods include creating a termiticide barrier around foundations via trenching or sub-slab injection, or treating infested areas on lawns and around buildings.
Application to lawns for pests like fleas and mole crickets involves mixing 1 oz of product per 2-4 gallons of water per 1,000 square feet.
Important Considerations
Read the Label:
Always read and follow the product's label instructions for specific dilution rates, application methods, and safety precautions.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
Wear appropriate PPE, such as long sleeves, long pants, chemical-resistant gloves, and shoes with socks, when mixing and applying the product.
Environmental Factors:
Avoid application when rain is expected for at least 24 hours to allow the product to set.
Pest Specifics:
For certain pests, like flea larvae, a higher volume of water may be needed to penetrate the soil effectively.
Wisdom TC Flowable is safe for pets when used according to the product label instructions. This means you must keep pets out of the treated area during application and until the product has completely dried. Wisdom TC contains bifenthrin, a synthetic pyrethroid, and while it's safe once dry, direct contact with the wet insecticide poses a risk to animals.
Safety Precautions
Keep pets away during application:
Remove pets, birds, and cover aquariums before applying the product.
Wait for it to dry:
Allow the treated surfaces to dry completely before allowing people or pets to contact them.
Read the label:
Always follow the instructions on the product label for proper mixing and application, as this is crucial for safety.
Avoid certain areas:
Do not apply Wisdom TC to vegetable gardens or fruit trees, and take care to avoid fish and reptile pets in or near ornamental ponds.
Reference
Wisdom TC Flowable, which contains the active ingredient bifenthrin, is a pyrethroid insecticide that is toxic to insects and can affect dragonflies. While some studies suggest dragonflies may be resilient to certain aerial mosquito control applications, the product label for bifenthrin warns of its toxicity to aquatic invertebrates, and it should not be applied directly to water.
